Namaste!

We all love music and want to express music at different levels that is either by performing for an audience, or by playing for our own passion, or by simply listening to music and enjoying its bliss. Being a universal language and paving the path for liberation, Music is the master of our 5th sense (auditory), and hence the nearest one to the 6th sense which makes it the eternal element to balance all the senses.

If music is life, violin is the soul of it. Violin is the most admired string instrument having the sounds so similar to the human voice. It is also called a "blind instrument" that needs high precision to play. Playing the Violin has life long benefits right from giving you a sense of satisfaction, confidence, peace to connecting you to the eternal. Apart from this, it also improves one's cognitive skills, motor skills, memory, attention span, etc.

Music is the yoga for all the senses and practising it through Carnatic violin becomes yoga for the body too.

About Me and My Passion for Teaching

I am a graduate in music (regular full time, passed out batch 2012). I have been practising violin for more than 10 years and have been teaching for more than 5 years. I am blessed to be under the tutelage of my Guru Shri.R. Kasivisweswaran in the Guru shishya parampara

I use traditional method (Saint Purandharadasa method) and Suzuki method with a personalized approach in teaching. And I share the Audio recordings of the lessons I teach in the class (videos also sometimes). Lots of rhythm practices will be exercised and as I already mentioned rhythms are the gateways to understanding music. Improving the knowledge for rhythms or developing the rhythmic senses speeds up the learning process and gives the confidence to play violin enthusiastically.

Thirupugazh - A devotional tamil literature by Saint Arunagirinathar, is a brilliant work that is composed so rhythmically. And Thirupugazh being one of my admirations, I can guide interested students to recite Thirupugazh with taalam (not singing).

When it comes to teaching children, I can make them laugh and smile now and then and teach them in a very playful manner and make sure that the class is very light and entertaining. I can also guide students in buying the right kind of Violin.

My ultimate aim in teaching is to make students realize the essence of music and live a better and harmonious life.

A few violin pieces I have played are presented here

Hamsadhwani raga
Kriti Raghuvamsasudha - Kadhanakuthukalam raga
Thirupugazh-Muthai tharu - Shanmugapriya.
